GENERAL INFORMATION
In the early 1980s, an Australian Math teacher, Peter O’Hollora, initiated a Math contest for schools in Australia. This contest used multiple choice questions; and students’ answers were marked by computers. This helped thousands of students all over Australia to be able to join this contest easily and effectively. Inspired by this idea, two French teachers, André Deledicq and Jean Pierre Boudine, organized this contest in their country. The name Kangaroo was chosen to show gratitude to the founder and the original country of this contest. The first contest held in 1991 in France attracted 120,000 students. Today, the number of contestants has reached 6 million from 70 countries.
In March, 2016, the International Kangaroo Math Contest - IKMC was first held in Viet Nam by Innovative Education Group (IEG) in cooperation with University of Education - Viet Nam National University, Ha Noi.

PURPOSE
IKMC was organized in order to encourage teaching and studying Math in international orientation by developing thinking through practical math problems. Therefore, young generations could have enough mindset and skills to integrate with the world. IKMC was brought back to Vietnam with the vision of facilitating the trend of Math teaching based on real-life problems. We, the organizers, hope this could help abridge Vietnamese youth with their peers around the globe.
In 2024, IKMC was held for the 8th time in Vietnam and achieved remarkable numbers:

STRUCTURE OF THE TEST
The test includes multiple-choice questions compiled and provided by International Kangaroo Math Association in English to all countries. The organizer in Vietnam will translate the test in Vietnamese. All contestants are provided the test in English - Vietnamese.
The test of each level is divided into 3 parts:
Each wrong answer is deducted ¼ points of the corresponding question. The contestants do not either get or lose any point if skip any question.
